The twelfth rough night has the energy of December, which we just left behind – the cycle is complete. December is the darkest month of the year, and – at the same time – it is the month when we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We celebrate the winter solstice and are once more at the beginning of our journey together. We celebrate the rebirth of the light and days are getting longer again. Everything starts anew - the cycle of life.

Experiment

What does it mean for you to step from darkness into light, into life? What kind of light is it? How does it feel to step into the light? To let your own light shine?

The rough nights help us to practice transitions as we undergo them time and again in our private and business lives. The more often we experience transitions consciously and concentrate on the essential things while doing so the more active can we shape our life with all its changes .

Purpose of life

The rough nights mark the beginning of a new time and the last night is a very magical night. The perfect point in time to figure out what your purpose of life is.

We often look for our meaning on the outside. We all want love, happiness, wealth, and abundance. However, in the end we’ll never find any of it on the outside, or rather, whatever we are going to find outside will never satisfy our needs completely, and we will always need more and more, and more often, input from the outside.

But not to worry, you have everything you need already inside you. Stop looking on the outside, turn inward once more. Trust your ability to listen to your heart and your gut-instinct. You have practiced it already a few times in the previous rough nights. Ignore your mind once more and ask yourself who you really are, what your values are, what drives you, where lies your passion.

“He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” Friedrich Nietzsche

When you are certain that you are doing something meaningful and your life and all your experiences and events in it are of significance, have a purpose, when you can see a larger context, you strengthen your resilience. You will never ask “Why?” or “Why me?” anymore when being faced with challenges, but rather “What for?”. You are not going to believe anymore that things happen to you but through you. Hence, you are not a victim but someone who knows that they have control in and over their life. When you are able to see your purpose, you are motivated and committed, you can focus on the important things in life and are resilient and nothing will throw you of course easily.

However, just relax if you cannot identify your purpose of life this very moment, you have taken the first step and are on your way already. Just accept that you do not know everything yet, keep an open mind and stay curious. Be patient with yourself, become still and turn your focus inside yourself again and again. This is where you will find your answers

Ritual

The Ritual of this rough night is once more to meditate. You might have already realised how important it is to become still time and again, and to endure the stillness and everything that comes up. Thus, you reduce stress regularly and strengthen your psychological and physiological resilience.

It is often enough to realise that everything happens for a reason, and all is well the way it is right now. We just need the faith that all will develop in a way that is exactly right for us and in the right time. Like in nature everything in life develops in our own time and there is a time for everything.

Although, contemplation is important and I would like to advise you to do it regularly, it is just as important to make experiences consciously on the outside to be able to grow.

Tomorrow, we are going to review the 12 rough nights.

Until then, be well.

Yours,

Sibylle
